Can-Am RT – A Review

I’ve never been a biker. My sense of balance isn’t brilliant and all my road experience up until the grand old age of 43 has been on four wheels.

That was until I got on the back of the beautiful Can-Am RT and fell in love.

This incredible piece of machinery is a joy to look at and experience the thrill of the open road on.

With a host of standard features the Can-Am Spyder RT roadster not only looks good it feels amazing when you’re cruising on its back and, dare I say it, enjoying the curious and admiring looks from people you pass by.

The Can-Am RT’s certainly a head-turner, creating fans of all ages and from all backgrounds. Its muscular design combined with that beautiful growl of the engine when you turn the key is sure to get your pulse racing in anticipation.

So, there’s no point trying to blend into the background when you’re riding a Can-Am RT or its sister the Can-Am RS. These amazing beasts are meant to be seen and heard – attracting waves, thumbs up and other comments from curious, and I’m guessing, jealous, passers-by.

Built around a Surrounding Spar Technology frame the Can-Am RT features a slim and light frame which provides a low centre of gravity to enhance stability and make it pretty easy to handle.

For a biker novice like me it’s the answer to my prayers, along with the sumptuous gel seats which really make you feel like you have your very own armchair on top of its three wheels. This seat is what’s needed on a long journey or when tackling the bumpy roads if you want to avoid a rather numb posterior.

Then, of course, there’s the amazing ability to reverse. The Can-Am RT features a specially designed smooth five speed gearbox enabling you to reverse the vehicle really easily. This is a fantastic advantage when you’re in a tight spot and need to manoeuvre quickly.

Riding a Can-Am RT is truly an experience to savour – whether you love motorbikes, cars, mopeds or a bicycle you’d be a fool not to take one of these beautiful feats of engineering out for a test ride. They are so much fun I challenge anyone who tries them out not to have the biggest grin on their face when they return to the showroom. Try one, you may just be surprised.
